Two Finalists for 2017

A panel of local individuals will read both books and determine which will be chosen for Washtenaw Reads 2017.

Read along with us and leave a comment under one or both of the titles' webpages, and tell us what you think!

The two books under consideration are:

Orhan's Inheritance

Aline Ohanesian, Orhan's Inheritance. Thorndike Press, 2015.

Living on Almost Nothing in America

Kathryn J. Edin & H. Luke Shaefer, $2.00 A Day: Living on Almost Nothing in America. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2015.

I'd like to see $2.00 a Day chosen. I haven't read it myself (so choosing it will be an added impetus!), but I've heard it is a no-pulled-punches treatment of an issue that we shouldn't ignore.

Thanks to all who have worked on Washtenaw Reads this year!

$2.00 a Day is such an important book right now. It should be required reading for all adults who vote.
